ASU will play in the Bahamas

Appalachian State men's basketball coach Buzz Peterson announced that the returning members from last year's squad will participate in a three-game foreign exhibition tour to the Bahamas in August.

Edwards on early Payton list
PHILADELPHIA - Appalachian State quarterback Armanti Edwards, the 2008 Walter Payton Award winner, headlines the initial candidates for the 2009 Payton Award, The Sports Network announced on Tuesday.


Little League teams return to All-Star tournament
Watauga's Little League baseball and softball teams return to action this weekend in the District 7 All-Star tournaments. All games and times are subject to change for weather or other circumstances

Post 29 hosts Cherryville

Tailwinds to run in ASU regional

The Watauga Tailwind Track Club, an AAU track and field club, will participate in the Southeast Regional AAU meet July 9-12 at the Hardin Valley Academy in Knoxville, Tenn.

ASU to be on TV 3 times
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Appalachian State’s football team will make a league-high three appearances on SportSouth this season as part of the Southern Conference’s “SoCon Saturday” package, the conference announced on Thursday.

Post 29 falls in opener

CHERRYVILLE - Cherryville took a 6-2 victory over Caldwell County Post 29 in the first game of the second round of the Area IV playoffs Sunday night at Cherryville High.

Watauga National rolls past West Caldwell
Watauga National, the 11-12 Little League All-Star team, got a fast start in its game with West Caldwell Thursday and rolled to a 14-1 victory in the loser’s bracket of the District 7 tournament at Optimist Park.
