Watauga hosts weekend tourney

Now that the vacations are more or less over, at least for this upcoming weekend, Watauga baseball coach Pete Hardee is looking forward to his team playing some games at full strength.

App State hires coaches
Appalachian State head men’s basketball coach Buzz Peterson announced the hiring of assistant coaches Jamie Kachmarik and Jason Capel on Tuesday.

ASU women find new assistant coaches
Appalachian State women’s head basketball coach Darcie Vincent completed Appalachian State University’s women’s basketball coaching staff for the 2009-10 season Wednesday, adding assistants Heather Kearney, Andrea Gross and Kiesha Mack.

Edens picks up win

CARY - Former Appalachian State pitcher Aubrey Edens tossed four innings of two-hit relief to lead his Blue squad to a 4-2 victory over its Red counterparts at the USA Baseball National Team trials on Saturday evening at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary.

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Former Furman head football coach Bobby Johnson headlines a class of three former greats selected for induction into the Furman University Athletics Hall-of-Fame.

ASU assistant headed to L-R
HICKORY - Lisa Gottuso, an assistant coach with the Appalachian State women’s basketball team, has left ASU to take a similar post at Lenoir-Rhyne, the Division II school announced Monday.
