Stranded runners, long balls doom Mountaineers

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Appalachian State University baseball stranded 11 baserunners and surrendered four home runs in a 6-5 loss to Georgia Southern in the winnersf bracket of the 2009 Southern Conference Tournament on Thursday evening at Fluor Field.

Young Watauga track team headed to A&T
Watauga track and field coach Randy McDonough reached one of his goals last Saturday by qualifying enough athletes for the state 4-A track and field finals to use a bigger activity bus to get to the site of the meet, North Carolina A&T in Greensboro.
