CULLOWHEE - Every Appalachian State starter had at least a hit or an RBI in the Mountaineer's doubleheader sweep of Western Carolina in a Southern Conference softball showdown Wednesday.

App State takes on Cougars
Appalachian State is playing some of its best baseball of the 2009 season. The big question facing the Mountaineers is: Can they extend that into three wins at College of Charleston this weekend?

Appalachian State’s football program will hold its annual ASU Foundation Football Fund Golf Tournament May 15 at Linville Golf Club.

Commentary: Opening day never gets old

ATLANTA - There is something about Opening Day in any sport that makes it more special than other days.

App State sweeps Samford
Isaac Harrow drove in four runs and Aubrey Edens worked seven strong innings on the mound to lead Appalachian State to a 6-3 win over Samford on Sunday afternoon at Smith Stadium. The victory completed a three-game Southern Conference series sweep for Appalachian.

Charlotte to host SoCon in 2010

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Southern Conference announced that the league's postseason basketball tournaments in 2010 will be held in Charlotte.

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Brittany Gaston tied game one with her first homer of the year but Chattanooga won it in the bottom of the ninth on an Michelle Fuzzard RBI fielders choice Saturday afternoon in Chattanooga.

Around the area - Legends Tournament to be held
The Legends Softball Tournament will be held April 14 to celebrate the grand opening of the Complex Softball Fields located at the Old Ann Marie Drive next to the Swim Complex. Anybody who is 45 years-old or older is are eligible to play.
