March 17
Rita L. Zaby, 34, of 1171 Bamboo Road, Boone, was served with an order for arrest on charges of simply physical assault, probation violation and two counts of communicating threats. She was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on March 20 in lieu of a March 20 in lieu of a secured $1,000 bond.
Brandon Kyle Pennington, 27, of 197 Daniel Boone Drive, Boone, was served with an order for arrest for failure to appear at a scheduled court appearance. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on April 7 in lieu of a secured $15,000 bond.
Frank Edward Small, 47, of 215 Bear Creek Church Road, Mocksville, was served a warrant on charges of failure to work after being paid and larceny. He is scheduled to appear in district court on May 1 in lieu of an unsecured $1,000 bond.
Trevor Lee Thompson, 21, of 5533 Lawyers Road East, Va., was arrest on view on a charge of driving while impaired. He is scheduled to appear in district court on April 1 in lieu of a written promise bond.
An incident involving a person failing to pay taxes was reported by a Blowing Rock resident. The victim reported a person took money from his/her paycheck, but did not pay taxes in the amount of $1,400.
A simple physical assault was reported at a school on Big Hill Road in Boone. The reporting person indicated a juvenile was struck by another juvenile in the face.
March 18
Dustin Scott Gilley, 22, of 828 Colvard Farm Road, Jefferson, was arrested on view on a charge of driving while impaired. He is scheduled to appear in district court on April 17 in lieu of a written promise bond.
Kyle Stevenson Greene, 24, of 284 N. Pine Run Road, Boone, was served with a criminal summons on a charge of simple physical assault. His scheduled court appearance was not available as of press time.
Taylor Jordan Cabell, 18, of 2447 U.S. 181, Morganton, was served with a warrant on a charge of sexual battery. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on May 1 in lieu of a secured $2,000 bond.
James Edwin Carroll, 49, of 250 Miller Mountain Road, Fleetwood, was served with a warrant for arrest on a charge of violating a domestic violence protective order. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on April 1.
Officers responded to a dispute over a vehicle at a residence on the 4100 block of Peoria Road in Sugar Grove.
March 19
John Leon Whittington, 42, of 231 N. Depot Street, Boone, was served with a warrant for arrest on charges of a court violation and as a habitual felon. He was placed in the Watauga County Detention Center and is scheduled to appear in district court on May 28 in lieu of a secured $20,000 bond.
A simple physical assault and communicating threats were reported at a residence on the 100 block of Southwood Trail in Boone. The victim reported a person threatening and assaulting him/her.
March 20
Ryan Wesley Ledford, 23, of 8132 Noland Woods Drive, Charlotte, was served with a warrant for arrest on a charge of assault and battery. He is scheduled to appear in district court on April 17 in lieu of a written promise bond.
Jeffrey Whitehead, 44, of 675 Willow Springs Road, Elizabethton, Tenn., was served with an order for arrest for failure to appear in court on a charge of driving while license revoked. He is scheduled to appear in district court on April 17 in lieu of a secured $500 bond.
Financial identity theft was reported by a resident of Sierra Vista Drive in Boone. The victim reported a person used his/her identity to activate a financial charge account.
Breaking and entering and larceny were reported at a residence on the 2100 block of Junaluska Road in Boone. The victim reported a person entered the home without the use of force and stole two video game consoles, 20 video games and a home safe.
March 21
Samuel James Filip, 21, of 148 Kerly Drive, Boone, was arrested on view on a charge of driving while impaired. He is scheduled to appear in district court on May 1 in lieu of a written promise bond.
Damage to property was reported at a residence on the 400 block of Saratoga in Boone. The victim reported a person damaged clothing, an electric toothbrush and sunglasses while the victim was away from the home.
Burglary with forced entry was reported at a residence on the 300 block of Big Buck Trail in Boone. The victim reported a person cut the lock from the driveway gate, kicked in the front door and stole camping equipment, tools and a trail camera.
March 22
A simple physical assault was reported in a parking area off of the 300 block of Clint Norris Road in Boone. The victim reported a person grabbed him/her around the neck and hit them.
Criminal damage to property and assault with a deadly weapon were reported at a residence on the 100 block of Oliver Hill Road in Banner Elk. The victim reported a person drove their vehicle into the victim’s vehicle.
March 23
Dylan Tyler Cook, 23, of 471 Love Knob Road, Sugar Grove, was served with a warrant for arrest on a charge of felony possession of methamphetamine. He is scheduled to appear in district court on April 17.
Rodney Byron Greer, 48, of 254 Seminole Trail, Elk Park, was served with a warrant for arrest on a charge of communicating threats. He is scheduled to appear in district court on March 27 in lieu of an unsecured $500 bond.
Larceny was reported at a residence on the 1000 block of Howard Edmisten Road in Sugar Grove. Farm equipment was reported stolen.
An incident of communicating threats was reported by a resident of Azor Drive in Boone. The victim stated a person called on the telephone and threatened to attack him/her with a golf club.
Officers recovered a stolen vehicle on Castle Ford Road in Boone. A 2001 Toyota Corolla that had been reported stolen was found.
Larceny was reported at residence on the 100 block of Albert Tester Drive in Sugar Grove. The victim reported jewelry stolen.
